Terms and Conditions

Effective Date: April 6, 2025

Parents agree that by enrolling in our program they are allowing their children to participate at their own risk.

In agreeing for my child to attend an Active Autism session, I:

  • Release and forever discharge Active Autism from all claims that I may have or may have had arising from, or in connection with, my child and an Active autism session; and
  • Indemnify, will keep indemnified and hold harmless Active Autism, to the extent permitted by law in respect of any claim as a result of or in connection with an Active Autism program.

“Active Autism” means all directors personally and in their capacity as a director of Active Autism and parent company Steps Co Pty Ltd, partners of directors, agents, and any representatives of Active Autism. “Active Autism Session” includes all programs and activities that you or your child participate in during our program. This includes but is not limited to any organised sport, training, and activities provided by Active Autism, and facilities utilised by Active Autism.

I agree that any medical condition that my child suffers from is being managed and that I take full responsibility for any such condition and will record it in my child’s profile. I declare that my child is not suffering from any illness, disorder or injury which would render it unsafe for my child to take part in an Active Autism program. I have read these Terms and Conditions, and I consent for my child to participate in an Active Autism session and understand the risk involved.

I acknowledge that Active Autism uses its best endeavours to ensure that the equipment and facilities used in the sessions are safe and fit for purpose and acknowledge that all sports inherently come with risks, and I voluntarily accept the associated risks.

Timetable Changes

All classes are subject to change. While Active Autism uses its best efforts to operate classes as per the timetable published, in some instances changes are required. No guarantee is made that classes will run per the timetable, although we absolutely intend to do so not forsaking special circumstances. Any changes required will be communicated to those affected prior to the sessions commencing.

Cancellation Policy

By enrolling in our classes, you are committing to a service contract for a complete term or pro-rata for the portion of the term remaining if you join part-way through a term. We will happily offer a session credit for a session that is cancelled via the online portal or app. We do not offer credits for no-shows.

Make-up Policy

If you know your child will be unable to attend one of their sessions, a make-up session may be available assuming you cancel the session you can’t make via the online portal or app. We cannot guarantee there will be availability in all sessions. Make-up classes can be used any time in the current term. You can book make-up classes via the portal or app. If you have any questions or problems, please contact info@activeautism.org

What to Wear and Bring

All we ask is that your child is comfortable, so please bring them wearing whatever they feel safe and happy in, noting the physical nature of the activities we offer. Please bring water for them in a non-spillable bottle or other container.

Fee Payment

We only take bookings for whole terms and our fees are structured this way. If you join mid-term, you will only be required to pay pro-rata for the classes remaining that term. Unfortunately, we cannot take casual bookings or pro-rata weeks you may be away. Please refer to our make-up policy for missed sessions.

For private-paying participants, all fees must be paid before the commencement of each term.

For self-managed NDIS participants, fees are charged on a weekly basis on the day of your scheduled session and will be collected via automatic debit using the Stripe payment platform. Cancellation of sessions do not stop the fee being payable and your account will be credited. You will be sent an invoice for claiming the fees back. If you experience financial difficulty and are unable to pay your fees, please contact us at info@activeautism.org and will endeavour to support your child to continue.

A 2.5% payment card fee applies on top of the term fees.

Refund Policy

Active Autism has a no refund policy.

In the event of permanent disability, injury or sickness that renders your child unlikely to be able to participate at any time in the future, a refund may be granted where a letter from a medical practitioner / specialist is received outlining the permanent disability, injury or sickness and its impact on your child’s ability to participate in the program.

Public Holidays

Active Autism sessions don’t run on public holidays. Participants whose sessions fall on a public holiday will be offered a make-up session on another day. If no make-ups are available or you are unable to attend on another day, you may request a refund for that session in writing via email (info@activeautism.org).

Parental Participation

This is a parent participation program, and parents or other adult carers are required to participate with each child for the duration of each session. Active Autism is not a registered childcare provider and is not therefore licensed to care for children without parental supervision.

Moreover, we believe passionately in the power of connection and want to encourage precious time in a safe space to explore opportunities together ©

Child Safety

Active Autism is committed to safeguarding children. Our staff and volunteers all possess Working with Children and national police checks and are inducted into our team through a program that ensures child safety and wellbeing is at the forefront of all we do. Our staff are all offered Mental Health First Aid training.

Participants must be supervised at all times by a parent or other adult carer. Active Autism do not assume any responsibility for the safety of your child whilst in attendance at any of our sessions.

In the unlikely event that your child requires first aid during our classes, this will remain the responsibility of the parent or other adult carer. Active Autism staff will help wherever they can, but care for your child is your responsibility.

Sibling Policy

Un-enrolled siblings of enrolled children are not permitted to participate in Active Autism sessions.

Photography

From time to time your child may be photographed or filmed whilst undertaking an Active Autism session. Such media might be used for promotional purposes, including but not limited to reproduction on the Active Autism social media platform. By enrolling in the Active Autism program, you agree to such use by Active Autism. If you do not want your child to participate in these, please let us know and we will ensure your child is not included. Parents are not to take videos or photographs that include other children in the class without the permission of that parent/guardian.

Food and Drink

We ask that you please do not bring food or drinks into the play area during the Active Autism sessions. We encourage water breaks.
